For the last couple of years the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been celebrating “International Girls in ICT Day” on the last Thursday of April aiming to create a global ICT environment for girls and women that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). We are happy to share that we have been representing Bangladesh in this campaign from 2015.
We are celebrating this day in a very unique way by organizing various intensive programs throughout a month. For example, we celebrate the occasion with arranging Career Talks, Career Fair, Workshop, Awareness Raising Program, Programming Workshop on ‘Write your Very First Code!’, with Open House Day or Seeing is Believing and some online activities.
Among all the other initiatives, Career Talks for the students is a very intensive program we organize to celebrate Girls in ICT. Here, we invite different ICT leading personnel to talk with the girls. The purpose is to motivate the girls and women to be engaged in the ICT careers and ICT industries. The students participating in the session are expected to widen their views on the scopes and opportunities of involving in the ICT sectors.
